The Fellowship Award recognizes the dentist's pursuit of continuing dental education. To receive the Fellowship Award, Dr. Goodkind has completed over 500 hours of approved continuing dental education after graduation from dental school, practiced at least 5 continuous years, and passed a comprehensive 400 question written examination in all phases of General Dentistry.

In addition, To retain membership in the Academy of General Dentistry Dr. Goodkind has committed himself to take over 75 hours of voluntary continuing dental education courses every 3 years.

Dr. Goodkind received this honor at a convocation ceremony in San Diego, CA in 1992 with other fellowship candidates.

Dr. Goodkind continued to take a lot more than the 75 hours every 3 years since receiving fellowship.  This is many more hours than the 25 hours every 2 years required for re-licensure in the State of Connecticut
