This decay started in between the teeth and was picked up with the yearly cavity detecting (bitewing) x-ray. 

The amount of tooth structure removed was kept very small.  A tooth colored composite was placed which will likely last 15 years or more.  We have been placing composite fillings such as this, on a routine basis, since 1982.
